Wine Skinny - "Spotlight Alois Lageder"
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to sit in on a luncheon featuring Alois Lageder and many of his lovely wines from Alto Adige, an Italian region that I have visited and greatly admire.
Alois' great-great-grandfather Johann broke into the wine trade in the early 19th century. and the wine business has stayed in the family through all the generations since. Alais (who is actually Alals IV) took over the family winery in 1975 from his older sister Wendelgard who had hired (and subsequently married) winemaker luis von Dellemann, still winemaker at Lageder today.
