Mainly facing towards the rising sun in the east, though also to the south or west. Climatic conditions are extremely varied, at times mediterranean, at others with decidedly alpine tones. There are scree-deposit hills, gravelly terraces, steep moraines and alluvial soils. Soils of chalk and dolomite stone, quartz phyllite, loamy porphyry, sandstone porphyry and sandy marl. Alois Lageder is highly aware of these natural variations in growing conditions, and sees them as a vast opportunity for the uniqueness of the wines of Alto Adige.
