Alois Lageder has understood that the creation of extraordinary wines demands serious attention to the best possible utilisation of the merits and characteristics of any given place. The potential for quality on the part of any given locale is developed by planting the appropriate variety of grape. The result is the growing of grapes for extraordinary wines with great elegance, body, structure and individuality.

Every variety of grape has its preferential growing conditions. Every terrain has its own particular characteristics. The harmonious interaction of all such factors leads to expressive wines of the highest quality. A considerable challenge in the microcosm of the vineyards of Alto Adige. Careful and knowledgeable decisions must be made as to which variety of grape is to be planted at what particular vineyard site. Alois Lageder reaches such decisions by considering the whole terroir, the complex and total array of all the natural factors that determine the uniqueness of any given locale: its topography, the composition and consistency of its soil, its meso- and microclimate as well as its microbiology.
